Connect Notion as a Knowledge Source

Step-by-step guide to sync your Notion workspace with AGO

Connect a Notion workspace to AGO so your agents can answer questions from your Notion content.

Prerequisites

• Permission to authorize a Notion integration for the content you want to import
• Admin or staff access to AGO

1. Connect your Notion workspace

   1. Navigate to Knowledge > Sources > Connections
   2. Click Connect with Notion
   3. In the Notion window, select the pages and databases you want to share with AGO
   4. Click Allow Access

   The workspace now appears under Connections. You only do this once — every source you create can read through the same connection.

   You can change which pages are shared at any time from Notion’s integration settings.

   If OAuth is unavailable on this AGO instance, use an API token instead — see Notion Integration.

2. Create a source on that workspace

   1. Go to Knowledge > Sources > Create
   2. Name the source and select Notion
   3. Pick your workspace under Notion workspace
   4. Click Choose a page, browse the tree, and select the page or database to import
   5. To import a database inside that page, choose Database under Content to import, then choose the database from the list
   6. Optionally check values under Database filters to filter by Select, Multi-select or Status properties
   7. Click Save

   Values within a field use OR, and different fields use AND. Leaving all values unchecked imports every record. Changing the database clears the previous filters and grouping.

   Selecting a database directly in the page picker also loads its filters automatically. For other property types or more complex filters, use Advanced (JSON).

   Create one source per area you want to keep separate — a handbook, a product database — all on the same connection. Sources are what you assign to agents, so splitting them lets you give each agent only what it needs.

3. Run the Initial Sync

   Open the saved source and start a sync. The first sync may take a few minutes depending on the volume of content.

   • Track progress on the Sources page — the status indicator shows sync state
   • Once complete, check the document count to verify the right content was imported
4. Verify Content Quality

   1. Navigate to Knowledge > Sources and open your Notion source
   2. Open the Document Quality tab
   3. Review quality scores for imported documents
   4. Fix any flagged issues at the source in Notion, then re-sync

   Common Notion-specific issues:

   • Nested toggles — deeply nested content may not import with full structure
   • Database views — configure record filters in AGO; saved Notion view filters are not used
   • Embedded content — external embeds (videos, iframes) are not imported
5. Assign to an Agent

   1. Navigate to AI Studio > Agents
   2. Edit your agent
   3. Under Knowledge Sources, select the Notion source
   4. Click Save

   Your agent can now answer questions from your Notion content.

Ongoing Sync

AGO automatically syncs Notion content based on your configured schedule. When you update a page in Notion, the changes will appear in AGO after the next sync.

To trigger a manual sync:

1. Go to Knowledge > Sources
2. Click on your Notion source
3. Click Sync Source

Troubleshooting

Issue	Cause	Fix

A page is missing from the picker	Only what you shared with the integration is listed	Share it in Notion, then reopen the picker

Removing a connection

Go to Knowledge > Sources > Connections and click Disconnect. AGO lists the sources that read through it first — sources that rely on OAuth need another connection or an API token before they can sync again.
