The Share button under an assistant answer creates a link to the conversation, ending at that answer. Anyone who can sign in to AGO can open it, whether or not they would normally be allowed to see that conversation.
The link needs an AGO account. To send a transcript to someone outside — a supplier, a customer, a colleague with no account — use Export instead, which produces a PDF.
  1. Open the conversation and find the answer you want to share
  2. Click Share under that answer
  3. The link is copied to your clipboard
A confirmation tells you what you just copied:

Paste it into a chat message, an email, or a ticket.
There is no per-person permission on the link: it works for every AGO user who receives it, including people who could not otherwise open that conversation. Treat it the way you would treat a screenshot posted in a team channel.
The link is not a window onto your live conversation. It shows a fixed extract: Two consequences worth knowing:
  • Continuing the conversation afterwards is safe. New messages never appear on a link you already sent. To share the newer part, share again from a later answer — that produces a second, separate link.
  • Sharing twice from the same answer gives you the same link. Clicking Share again hands you the URL already in circulation rather than creating another one.

What a recipient can do

Someone who opens the link signs in as usual, then sees a banner marking it as a shared conversation, followed by the transcript and a message box. If someone else writes in that box, nothing is added to your conversation. AGO starts a new, private conversation for them, seeded with a copy of the extract they were reading, and answers there. You never see their questions, and other people holding the same link never see them either. That conversation belongs to them: it appears in their own list and nowhere in yours. If you open your own link and reply, there is nothing to copy — the conversation is already yours, so the reply simply continues it. Either way the shared page itself never changes. It is fixed at the message you shared. A link stops working when either the conversation or the message it was cut at is deleted. Deleting the conversation revokes every link made from it. Three links in AGO look alike and behave very differently: All three need an AGO account. To pass an exchange to a colleague, use Share. To invite a group to ask the same question, use a conversation starter link. To reach someone with no account, use Export. The address bar (/chat/<id>) is not a share link: it is your own private address for that conversation.
